Jason Howarth believes that collaboration is key to providing his clients with tailored and well-researched solutions including tax minimization strategies, restructuring, and general business advice. He works with them to customize services to meet their needs and their desired level of involvement.
Jason also works with a number of not-for-profit groups and credit unions on a range of issues including fund management and administration, and he is a strong contributor to our staff-training and quality assurance programs.

Marg first worked with McCay Duff in the 1980s, as a co-op student, and has spent her career developing a personalized approach to resolving each client’s unique issues and concerns.
Marg serves a diverse range of clients, from owner-managed businesses to not-for-profit organizations and is a trusted advisor that helps her clients make sound financial decisions. She is also trained in alternative dispute resolution. Marg currently serves as the Treasurer of the Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County.

Karen launched her career in Newfoundland in 1990 working with a national accounting Firm. In 1998, she transitioned to managing her own practice until 2003 when she moved to Ottawa and joined McCay Duff. Karen became a partner in 2009, providing services to a client base that spans multiple industry sectors. Her wide range of professional services includes accounting, assurance, business consulting, taxation compliance and strategic planning to small and medium-sized businesses.
Her keen interest in the accounting profession stems from her experience growing up in an entrepreneurial family business environment. Her involvement in her local church community and children’s sports organizations draws her to provide this professional experience to numerous not-for-profit and charitable organizations. Organizations such as churches and related religious organizations have been large focus points for her continually growing not-for-profit client network. In addition, Karen has served in various capacities on not-for-profit and charity boards.
Karen has developed a niche market, providing her expertise to veterinary professional corporations through effective business consulting and strategic tax planning.
When not at the office, Karen enjoys spending time with family, traveling and other leisurely activities such a boating and motorcycling.

Ryan Miller started with McCay Duff in 2001 and joined the Partnership in 2012. During his time with the Firm, Ryan has advised a diverse clientele of owner-managed businesses and medical professionals as well as clients in the not-for profit sector.
Ryan is the partner in charge of quality control and professional standards. He leads the training and development of staff on matters pertaining to Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises, Accounting Standards for Not for Profit Organizations, and International Financial Reporting Standards. He is primarily responsible for ensuring that the Firm complies with Canadian auditing standards as set by CPA Canada. Ryan also has experience working with CPA Ontario, conducting Practice Inspections of other Firms in Ontario to assess their compliance with assurance standards.
In addition to overseeing audits and reviews, Ryan works with clients in regards to corporate governance, internal controls, and financial planning including developing effective tax strategies. Ryan’s experience with the not-for-profit sector includes acting as Treasurer for a number of organizations, and being a regular presenter at the Canadian Condominium Institute speaking on topics related to corporate governance.
When not at work, Ryan enjoys alpine skiing and travelling with his family.

Dianna joined the Firm as a senior manager in 2010 and became a partner in 2013. A graduate of Acadia University, Dianna holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree as well as her designation as a Chartered Professional Accountant.
Dianna’s parents were business owners who instilled in her a strong understanding that, when working with business clients, their accounting represents more than just numbers: it represents their hard work, sleepless nights, and hopes for the future. She thoroughly enjoys working with business owners as their trusted advisor, providing advice that helps them run successful businesses and reach their goals. In addition to accounting and tax services, she also provides business consulting services including: cash flow projections, due diligence reviews for clients considering a business purchase, as well as assistance with arranging financing for business acquisition and/or growth. She also has a growing specialty working with dental professionals.
Dianna is a strong believer in giving back to the community. Her volunteer activities include mentoring youth in her church.

After obtaining his Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Ottawa, Greg began his career as an articling student with a national accounting Firm. He attained his CA designation in 2006 and completed the Chartered Accountants of Ontario In-Depth Tax courses in 2008.
Since joining McCay Duff in 2004, Greg has primarily focused on helping business owners and individual clients successfully resolve tax issues. Greg’s experience includes providing tax compliance, consulting, in-depth tax and estate planning and GST/HST compliance to business owners in a wide range of industries. Greg also has extensive experience in providing US tax advisory and compliance services.
Outside the office, Greg enjoys hiking, canoeing and camping with his family.
RICHARD H. EVANS, CPA, CA, CFF, CFE, CVA, ABV, ASA CPA (California)
A graduate of Carleton University, Richard is a Chartered Professional Accountant with over 22 years of public accounting experience in Canada and the United States. Richard joined McCay Duff after spending 15 years in public accounting in California, the last ten of which he spent performing business valuation and litigation support work for clients in various industries including construction, food services, retail, and professional services. Richard also has extensive experience performing audit and review engagements for clients in diverse industries and has qualified as an expert in Superior Court in California. Richard has the Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) credential from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and is currently enrolled in the Chartered Business Valuator program of studies.
PAUL SPARE, B.COMM, CPA, CA
Paul joined McCay Duff in 1999 after graduating from the Commerce program at the University of Ottawa. He provides accounting and tax services to a wide range of owner-managed businesses. Paul specializes in tax preparation and planning, U.S. tax services and estate planning. He is a former President of the Rideau View Golf Club and enjoys hitting the links with his kids in the summer and visiting local hockey arenas in the winter.
APRIL WHEELER, B.COMM, CPA, CGA
April Wheeler has been working in public accounting for over 17 years at McCay Duff. She provides accounting, tax and audit services to a variety of clients, including small businesses, not-for-profits, hotels, and commercial leasing enterprises. April takes pride in helping businesses and organizations learn what their numbers mean and how they can contribute to strategic growth. With the team at McCay Duff, she takes on an advisory role with clients by providing guidance on how they can improve the financial health of their business. April is actively involved in the Firm’s staff recruitment and marketing committee. She is a graduate of Algonquin College with a Professional Accounting Diploma and Laurentian University with an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree.
April has served as Treasurer on the Board of the Canadian Condominium Institute – Eastern Ontario Chapter. She has also volunteered with the Look Good Feel Better Program for Women Living with Cancer. Currently April is a Director on the St. Patrick’s Home of Ottawa’s Board of Directors and chair of their Audit and Finance Committee. She is also an online facilitator for Algonquin College, helping to train and mentor the next generation of accounting professionals.
STEPHANIE COURNEYEA, B.EC, CPA, CGA
Fully bilingual, Stephanie received a Bachelor of Economics degree at the University of Ottawa and a Professional Accounting Diploma at Algonquin College before joining McCay Duff in 2005. Now, she delivers accounting and auditing services to her many not-for-profit and condominium clients. Her for-profit clients get the benefits of this expertise plus advice based on her extensive knowledge of tax preparation and planning. When not working, Stephanie enjoys skiing and running.
ANDREW JEFFKINS, B.COMM, CPA, CA
Andrew received a Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Ottawa before joining McCay Duff in 2008. Now, he delivers accounting and auditing services to our many not-for-profit and owner-managed business clients. Our for-profit clients can draw on both his accounting expertise and extensive knowledge of tax preparation and planning. When not working, Andrew enjoys cooking, reading and his vintage record collection.
ADAM Brisson, CPA, CA
Adam received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Ottawa in 2012 and began his career working for accounting firms in Windsor and Hamilton, Ontario. He moved back to the Ottawa area and joined McCay Duff in 2019. Adam is fully bilingual and specializes in accounting, auditing and tax services to not-for-profit organizations as well as private enterprise clients. When he is not working, Adam enjoys playing ultimate frisbee, talking NFL football, and spending time with his dog.
Andrew Green, CPA (Vt.)
Andrew has 18 years of experience delivering client solutions to high net worth individuals, privately held companies, and non-profit organizations.
Prior to joining McCay Duff LLP, Andrew was a Partner and Co-owner of a boutique firm in Saint John, New Brunswick, offering clients Assurance, Accounting, Advisory, and Taxation services. Andrew earned his Economics degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and his Certified Public Accountant designation from the State of Vermont.
Andrew has lent his financial expertise, strategic advice, and business acumen to numerous boards. He continues to be actively involved in his current roles as Chair of the New Brunswick Forest Products Commission and Vice-Chair of the Saint John Shared Risk Pension Plan.
In his spare time, Andrew enjoys traveling abroad with his spouse Cindy and their food wine pairing adventures.

JENNIFER WAKEHAM, BBA, CPA, CGA
Jennifer graduated in 2001 from Halifax’s Mount Saint Vincent University with a Bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in accounting. She earned her CGA designation in 2005. Jennifer worked for public accounting Firms in both Halifax and Calgary prior to moving to Ottawa in the summer of 2012. Jennifer joined McCay Duff in September 2012 and provides accounting and tax services to owner-managed business clients. When not in the office, Jennifer enjoys doing cross-stitch, baking and spending time with her husband and two children.
MICHAEL PAULI, CPA, CA
Michael received a Bachelor of Commerce with a Specialization in Accounting from the University of Ottawa before joining McCay Duff in 2012. He provides accounting, auditing and tax services to a diverse range of clients including not-for-profit organizations, condominiums and private enterprise clients. In his spare time, Michael enjoys mountain biking, downhill skiing, camping and making furniture.
CHRISTOPHER SZUBZDA, CPA, CA
Christopher received a Bachelor of Accounting from Brock University. Upon graduating in 2013, Christopher worked for public accounting Firms in the GTA before moving to Ottawa in early 2016 and joining McCay Duff. Christopher delivers accounting, auditing and tax services to a multitude of not-for-profit organizations, condominiums and private enterprises. Christopher enjoys spending his time playing board and tabletop games.
NEIL DUNCAN, CPA, CA
Neil joined McCay Duff in 2013 and graduated from Carleton University with an Honours Bachelor of Commerce – Accounting degree. He provides a variety of tax services to clients including personal and corporate tax planning and preparation, as well as U.S. personal tax services. Outside the office, Neil enjoys downhill skiing and spending time with family and friends on the lake.
Nick joined McCay Duff in 2017. Nick received an Honours Bachelor of Arts with Specialization in History from the University of Ottawa in 2013 and completed his accounting education at the University of Ottawa in 2016. Nick provides accounting, audit and tax services to a variety of for-profit and not-for-profit clients, such as condominiums, hotels and charities. In his personal life, Nick collects and restores vintage computers and enjoys exploring the woods with his son.
