A new scholarship supporting aspiring professional accountants will soon be available to Master of Accounting (MAcc) students at Carleton University’s Sprott School of Business thanks to the generosity of Ottawa-based accounting firm McCay Duff LLP.
“The newly established MAcc Scholarship stands as a testament to our commitment to fostering the growth of aspiring accounting professionals,” said McCay Duff LLP Managing Partner Jason Howarth, CPA, CA.
“This collaborative venture with the esteemed Sprott School of Business reinforces our dedication to nurturing academic excellence and cultivating future leaders in the field of accounting.”
The McCay Duff LLP Master of Accounting Scholarship is valued at $2,000 and will be awarded annually by the Dean of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs on the recommendation of the Dean of the Sprott School of Business to an outstanding graduate student proceeding from first to second year in the MAcc program.
“We are very grateful to McCay Duff for their generous support in establishing this scholarship. This award will support students in their journey to the CPA and is a testament to Sprott’s record of excellence in accounting,” said Howard Nemiroff, Interim Dean, Sprott School of Business. Sprott’s Master of Accounting program is CPA-Accredited. Graduates are exempt from the CPA Professional Education Program and proceed directly to the CPA Common Final Exam. The curriculum covers all four CPA competencies, case writing and an internship for full-time students. MAcc graduates have a 100 per cent employment rate and several have placed on the prestigious CPA Honour Roll for finishing in the top one per cent of successful CFE writers.
